Extension leads often present a special problem during PAT testing. It is recommended that these need to be tested separately as they are a portable appliance in their own right. They can also suffer damage more readily than many other types of appliances.

However, not all PAT testers have the capability to test extension leads. The OM Extension Lead Tester from First Stop Safety can be used as an accessory to most PAT testers.
