"Dear Karen,

Just a quick email following our conversation this morning.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the recent excellent PAT Training Course I attended in Winchester.

The course was very well presented, clear and informative. What could have been a daunting subject was made very enjoyable. It was concise yet still gave the opportunity for candidates to ask any question that they required further clarification on. The mixture of theory and practical was blended and plenty of opportunity given to those who brought their own PAT Tester with them for additional instruction.

All in all a very well balanced and enjoyable course."

Mike Edwards - West Mercia Police

"For your information I would like to add that the course which I and my colleagues attended was highly satisfactory and that all my colleagues were most complementary about the way it was conducted and of the knowledge and skills level demonstrated by the presenters in answering all the questions thrown at them. I have no doubt we shall be conducting more business in the future. " .

"Hi Karen,

Just a quick e-mail to thank you and the team for organizing a very successful pat training course recently. We were particularly thankful for the fact that you came to us to train our personnel, and even though the participants changed frequently, there was never any drama on your part. All attendees enjoyed the course very much, and although your trainers name escapes me, he set up the room, conducted the course, and cleared with no fuss or bother at all. We will in future be calling on your services again, when we have sufficient numbers to warrant on site training in the future.

Thanks again!"

Hi Gareth, Just to say thank you on your superbly illustrated and user friendly handbook I purchased from you to pass my city and guilds level 3 pat test course. I also purchased the code of practice for inspection and testing of electrical equipment ( IEE codes of practice) handbook and found your one a lot easier to understand and covered everything you need to know about pat testing in a user friendly manor. I had no previous experience before going on this course and was daunted by reports I have read on people not passing the level 3 city and guilds and thought I would fail. But thanks to your hand book I passed with flying colors s first time and I only got the handbook from yourselves one week before sitting the exam. Many thanks to your company for making it easy to learn and understand and I would highly recommend your First stop safety pat testing book to anyone thinking of learning how to pat test and defiantly to anyone without previous experience.

Hello Karen, As a 17th edition approved electrician also qualified with City & Guilds 2391 inspection and testing, I regarded PAT testing as being simple. Which PAT testing is a simple task, but requires extra knowledge that most people do not realise. On setting myself up with the equipment certain questions regarding PAT testing started to appear that I could not answer. When you are used to testing out mains wiring you obviously have to be careful of electronic equipment such as PIRs on security lighting and other equipment in circuit that is electronic. Therefore the testing of appliances must be done correctly to avoid damage, so many appliances out there can be tricky to identify what category they are in. When I asked other sparkies some of the PAT related queries that I had got, I found more than not they could not answer the questions either.

So from here on I decided to look for a book, as the college courses locally are months away and very expensive in my area, I borrowed a PAT testing book by a well known author in the electrical industry and it was a inconclusive water down of the IEE code of practice for in service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. So I come across the Handbook of Portable Appliance Testing from First Stop Safety, if you ONLY want to buy ONE book on PAT testing this is the book to buy as it is very clear on procedures and has clear instructions on testing various appliances and not only that is has very useful advice on testing 110 volt equipment, 415 volts equipment and also 110 volt transformers. It is written for engineers in such a good practical way it is like having a technical expert at hand whenever you need them. The book also covers all you need to know about the code of practice. All the niggles I needed to ask seem to be in this book, even down to advice on the testing something as small as a figure of eight radio plug IEC leads!

The telephone support from First Stop Safety is VERY friendly and helpful. I am so glad I found this company. Other electricians I know have seen the book and are already making plans to purchase. Although the book is not the cheapest book, why waste your money of several books to cross reference when this is the bible or encyclopaedia of PAT testing.

So in just a few words IF YOU ARE GOING INTO PAT TESTING YOU NEED THIS BOOK!!
