The IT100 (Insta Test 100) is the newest portable handheld PAT testing unit designed by First Stop Safety. It has been designed to carry out electrical safety tests on an array of electrical appliances to confirm whether specific appliances are safe to be used. The IT100 can perform 3 main test functions, including: 
 
Class I - Appliances with an Earth connection
Class II - Appliances that are double insulated (no earth connection)
Power Cord - Testing for IEC cables, extension leads, and multiway adaptors
 
The IT100 is ideal for a trained electrician (or similar role) who wants to perform in-depth PAT tests on an array of appliances using a portable device. 
 
The device itself carries out four basic tests. Please note that not all tests are appropriate for all types of appliances. The tests include:
 
1. Earth Continuity: Confirms that the appliance’s earth connection is intact, so any fault current can safely flow to ground.
 
2. Insulation Resistance: Checks that the electrical insulation inside the appliance is strong enough to prevent dangerous current leakage.
 
3. Substitute Earth Leakage: Measures simulated leakage current to ensure the appliance won’t expose users to electric shock under normal operation.
 
4. Polarity Test: Verifies that the live, neutral, and earth wires are correctly connected for safe and proper functioning. 
 
Calibration
We recommend that the IT100 be calibrated each year to ensure that everything in the PAT testing unit is working and the results are accurate during tests.
